Is the Pasteur Foundation Asia a registered charitable organization in Hong Kong?

Yes. The Pasteur Foundation Asia is a registered charitable organization in Hong Kong which is exempt from tax under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance.

 
2.

Is the Pasteur Foundation Asia under the management of The University of Hong Kong or the Institut Pasteur?

No. The Pasteur Foundation Asia is an independent charitable organization. Its governing body is the Council whose members are professionals from scientific and business fields contributing their time voluntarily.

 
3.

How do I make a donation to the Pasteur Foundation Asia?

You can donate to the Pasteur Foundation Asia via many channels, viz. cheque by post or, direct deposit into our bank account. Please visit our website under Giving for details.

 
4.

Can I obtain a donation receipt for tax deduction purposes?

Yes, if your donation in any taxation year exceeded HK$100, the Pasteur Foundation Asia will issue a donation receipt for tax deduction purposes.

 
5.

When can I receive my donation receipt after making donations?

The Pasteur Foundation Asia will issue a donation receipt to donors within one month of the date of receiving the monies. If you are a monthly donor, an annual receipt listing the total donations in the past taxation year will be issued every April to help you prepare your tax return. 

 
6.

I would like to make a monthly donation to the Pasteur Foundation Asia, please let me know if I could download a donation form from your website and fill out the details?

7.

If I were a regular donor, do I get newsletters from you so that I know how my donations were spent?

The Pasteur Foundation Asia understands that voluntary disclosure is essential in establishing public confidence. We feel responsible for how donation received are being allocated and we are committed to communicating our latest development with stakeholders/donors as well as disclosing clear, accurate and timely financial information for public scrutiny.

We pledged to ensure that every dollar received from donation less the necessary administration expenses are being used to fund research, teaching, training, and public health initiatives.

 
8.

How much of the donations received by the Pasteur Foundation Asia is used on administration expenses?

Although administrative expenses help to support the mission and goal of the Pasteur Foundation Asia, we aim to keep this expenditure item to the minimal by using rent free office, recruiting volunteers, and employing part-time staff to help with our daily operations. We are very cautious with how monies received from the community are being expended and we are committed to ensuring that all donations are used in a responsible manner.

 
9.

What is your connection with Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine of The University of Hong Kong and the Institut Pasteur in Paris?

The HKU-Pasteur Research Pole was formed as a joint research laboratory between the University of Hong Kong and Institut Pasteur in 1999. The HKU-Pasteur Research Pole was integrated into the School of Public Health of the University of Hong Kong in 2013. The Pasteur Foundation Asia raises funds to support scientific research, teaching and public health initiatives and related operations of HKU-Pasteur Research Pole, thereby contributing to the objectives and impact of the University of Hong Kong, both locally and internationally. The Pasteur Foundation Asia also sustains, supports and assists the activities and projects of the Institut Pasteur and the Institut Pasteur International Network. 10.

Would the donations received by the Pasteur Foundation Asia be used in Hong Kong only?

Donations received by the Pasteur Foundation Asia will be used according to the donor’s expressed wishes or, in the absence of specific instruction, where the demand for funding is most imminent. It is the objectives of the Pasteur Foundation Asia to maintain and enhance Hong Kong’s world-leading status in research and education, through collaborations with institutions all over the world to find cures for infectious diseases such as SARS, MERS, Dengue fever, ZIKA, etc., and to educate the next generation of world-class researchers and global health leaders.
